When I mentioned to a friend I had just read The Sellout, she recommended Charles Yu’s Interior Chinatown.
This book was (1) really really well narrated (that was one of the reasons it was Rx-ed to me), (2) really fun stylistically, and (3) a great story of getting pigeon-holed into a type / category.
